2. Drilling and Blasting
After site preparation, drilling rigs create holes in the rock where explosives are placed. Controlled blasting breaks the ore into manageable fragments for excavation. Proper blast design minimizes waste rock and ensures safety while optimizing fragmentation efficiency.

3. Loading and Hauling
Large excavators or front-end loaders scoop up the blasted ore and load it onto haul trucks for transportation to the processing plant. Depending on the mine’s size, trucks with capacities exceeding 200 tons may be used to maximize productivity.

4. Crushing and Screening
At the processing plant, raw iron ore undergoes primary crushing to reduce its size for easier handling. Secondary crushing further breaks down the material before screening separates it into different grades based on particle size. Oversized rocks are recirculated for additional crushing if necessary.

5. Beneficiation (Ore Washing)
Low-grade iron ore often requires beneficiation to increase its iron content before smelting. Techniques such as gravity separation, magnetic separation, or flotation remove impurities like silica and alumina, improving ore quality for steel production.

6. Pelletizing or Sintering
To enhance blast furnace efficiency, processed iron ore may be pelletized or sintered:
– Pelletizing: Fine ore particles are rolled into small balls (pellets) using binders like bentonite clay before being hardened in a kiln at high temperatures.
– Sintering: Fine ores are mixed with coke breeze and limestone then heated until they fuse into porous lumps suitable for blast furnaces.

7. Transportation to Steel Plants
Final products—either lump ore, pellets, or sinter—are transported via rail or ship to steel mills worldwide where they undergo smelting in blast furnaces or direct reduction processes depending on end-use requirements ensuring seamless integration into global supply chains without delays
